How to upgrade CounterSpy to VIPRE


Updating from CounterSpy to VIPRE Antivirus is a very simple process that is completed by following the detailed instructions listed below.

Prior to installing VIPRE please be sure to remove any antivirus programs that are currently installed on the computer. Removal tools for conflicting antivirus programs can be found here
 
1. To download VIPRE, please click on the following link below: VIPRE Antivirus Download
2. When you are downloading VIPRE, your web browser will ask you “Do you want to run or save this file”. Click on the Run button.
3. When it is done downloading, you may receive another box that asks “Do you want to run this software” or "Do you want to allow the following program to make changes to this computer". Click on the Run or Yes button. If you do not receive this message, please proceed.
4. At the next screen you will be able to view the End User License Agreement. To proceed, you will need to click on the Agree and Continue button.
(Please disregard the Free Trial notice. Once the installation is complete, we will register VIPRE as a Paid version.)

5. The update to VIPRE will begin to download and install. Please note that the installation may take a few moments to complete.
(During the install you will receive a notice from Windows informing you that VIPRE has been turned off. This is a normal process during the update and the Windows notification can be disregarded at this time.)

6. Once the download and installation is complete, you will receive a window notifying you that VIPRE is now installed. Click on Explore to open VIPRE so you can apply the new registration key that you received.

7. Once VIPRE is open, click on Help then Register in the upper left corner of VIPRE.

8. Please enter your 25 character activation code that was provided to you for the upgrade. Also, please also enter you First and Last Name along with your email address in the correct spaces provided then click on the OK button.

9. Once the VIPRE Registration Window disappears, your expiration date in the lower right corner of VIPRE should show the correct date.
